Filled with the Holy Spirit
A person filled with the Holy Spirit is a person who has surrendered their life to God. At this moment of repentance and total submission the person is transformed. Not by a new set of rules but by a new desire to live their lives for God. A natural working of the heart occurs. There is no action required to apply laws to try and follow. There is a joy and peace that flows authentically. A new birth begins in the heart and a life grows into a transformation that is visible to those around them. God’s presence bears witness that the person of Jesus is alive and real. The person must actively engage with the Holy Spirit, and he does his thinking, desires, and habits align to the will of God. These new behaviors do not come from human effort but from the inner workings of the Holy Spirit. This incomprehensible love testifies the power of God within them. No human can manifest this peace and love that now flows freely out of them. The person filled with the Holy Spirit stands out with a visible joy in impossible circumstances. The fruits of the Holy Spirit are distinguishable in gentleness, faith fullness and self-control. The nature of the Holy Spirit comforts the believer and gifts the person with understanding and wisdom. The world doesn’t know, nor can they comprehend this. No one can imitate this through human effort. The truth is we should recognize a person filled with the Holy Spirit because they shine a light in the darkness. The Holy Spirit draws others to Him. It is a supernatural occurrence and the peace He gives is indescribable. On the sermon of the mount, Jesus takes us to an unhuman level. He says, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, drink, nor about your body. You shall not murder- but I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger or judgement. I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. These things are not humanly possible. But all things are possible through Jesus and He has proven this to us.
As Paul spoke to us in the book of Acts, “Truly these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent”.
The two scriptures that prophesies of the very event:
Jeremiah 31-33
God will replace this deeply engraved sinful heart with a new heart engraved with God’s law, written in God’s own handwriting.
Ezekiel 36;26
People will obey not because they are supposed to obey but because they naturally want to obey.
