9:30am Sunday Morning Program
Discovery Land is the curriculum we use for all children birth through 5th grade classes. We aim to help shape a Biblical worldview by observing “4 Rights”:
Know Right! – A passage from scripture.
Think Right! – A verse to meditate on during the week.
Do Right! – The challenge to live God’s way.
Feel Right! – The result of thinking and doing things God’s way.
Birth to 3yrs:
We know that infants and toddlers are absorbing everything around them. Our Nursery (birth – 2yrs) and Runner (2yrs – 3yrs) program uses play, interactions with others, and prayer time as our method for teaching Biblical concepts. While in our care they will learn core truths that God made them, He loves them, and He wants to be their friend forever. The Runner class incorporates a short Bible lesson, a craft or activity, a review game, and a snack. Both classes have at least one familiar and consistent teacher.
Preschool (ages 3 & 4 who are at least two years prior to entering Kindergarten):
Your preschooler will build on the core truths by learning age-appropriate Bible lessons and by beginning to memorize short scriptures with motions. As children enter the classroom, they will start their morning playing. Following drop-off playtime is a time of worship, a lesson with a visit from our puppet friend Tracker, a fun discovery time activity that relates to the lesson, a snack, and a review activity. During the school year we have a lead teacher who is there every week. Seeing a familiar face consistently is comforting to all the kids but especially to those who are a bit more hesitant.
Kindergarten to 5th grade:
In Discovery Land, kids will build a large foundation of truth based on God’s word and be encouraged to memorize our Top 12 verses. This high energy group starts with a pre-service review game and worship. Following worship is everyone’s favorite part of the morning, Discovery Time! The goal of Discovery Time is to create a memorable activity that connects to our Bible lesson. Kids will be dismissed to their classroom for Bible lessons. Classrooms are separated by age groups: K - 1st, 2nd - 3rd, and 4th - 5th and we are blessed to have the same teachers present every week.
What else do I need to know?
Check-in & Registration:
Please stop by the check-in desk to sign your child in. If you are new here, you will need to register any children that will be staying with us. We will need information such as their name, birthdate, grade, contact information, and any allergies or special needs they may have.
Safety:
All classes are monitored throughout the morning. Every volunteer has a completed background check and fills out an application to serve that is reviewed by our Director of Children’s Ministry. Safety is our top priority and we value the trust you place in us to care for your children.
