About River Valley
Alliance Church

Our Beginning
River Valley
Alliance Church of Watertown began in 1987 when a group of people
met for prayer and Bible study. A pastor was called. Our
congregation outgrew its temporary facility and moved to this
location on Welsh Road in 1992. In 2004 we completed a west wing
which now holds the administrative area, the nurseries, a youth
room, a large all-purpose meeting room and our church library.
Denominational Affiliation
We are a
member of the
Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA), founded by
Dr. A.B. Simpson in 1887. The C&MA is an alliance of evangelical
believers, joined together in individual churches and committed to
fulfilling the Great Commission given by our Lord Jesus Christ. That
commission clearly instructs us, “Therefore go and make disciples of
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have
commanded you . . .” Matthew
28:19,20.
We are
Christians
We are
Christian because we believe and follow Jesus Christ as Savior and
Lord. We are missionary because we are committed to reaching lost
people with the good news of Jesus
Christ.
We are committed to worldwide outreach (1,200 missionaries, 56
countries) whether in Watertown or Brazil, Europe or Indonesia,
spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. Over the years observers
have attempted to analyze how the C&MA accomplishes so much and so
effectively maximizes its resources. The answer is found in the
loyalty and commitment to the New Testament principles of world
evangelism and discipleship held by the Alliance members.
What We
Believe
We believe...
That the
Bible is the inspired word of God and is the final authority on
all matters of the Church. It is the supreme revelation of God
in Jesus Christ.
In the Trinity: God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
That Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was conceived by
the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, died on the cross for
our sins, was resurrected bodily and ascended to heaven, where
He shall judge the dead. He shall return again as King. He is
the Savior of all who will call upon Him in trusting faith.
That the Holy Spirit is a divine person sent by God the Father
to indwell, fill, lead, teach and empower believers. He brings
glory and honor to Christ through the Church. He convicts the
world of sin, instills a sense of righteousness and tells of the
coming judgment. By Him, godly character is developed in the
believer, and through Him, gifts are given to the Church for
ministry.
That the Church is the physical expression of Christ’s body on
earth. The Church is God’s primary vessel for proclaiming the
Gospel. The church is a living body of people joined by one
Spirit, submitted to one Lord, justified by one faith, sharing
in common one baptism, obedient to one God and Father in us all.
